Existing pond Restarting your filtration as quickly as possible at the beginning of the season proves to be a challenge every year. By doing so you are improving the natural habitat thus giving the Nishikigoi the opportunity to rebuild their resistance at the earliest moment possible. That way Nishikigoi will be better equipped to pass the warmer summer season and because they are in optimal condition, they can develop during this wam period in size, colour and pattern without problems.
New filtration systems and refreshing of water When building a new pond, after cleaning the filtration systems, or after refreshing a percentage of your pond water it is advised to add micro bacteria to your system.
Starters unit 250 ml Micro-bacteria + 250 ml Bacteria Nutrient. Sufficient for 200.000 litres of pond water.
Preparation: The Micro-bacteria that contain six different, carefully selected, heterofic bacteria, should be activated for use in your filters or pond by adding water and nutrition. A mix of 1 litre (water, Bacteria Nutrient and Micro-bacteria) is sufficient for 40.000 litres. Above 5°C living bacteria will start to multiply.
1 Use the inner bowl if the Kamiac of 1 litre (1000 ml.)
2 Pour ½ litre (500 ml) of warm water in the measuring glass
3 Add 50 ml of Bacteria Nutrient. Str gently.
4 Fill the bowl further with warm water till 950 ml.
5 Add, whilst gently stirring, the Micro-Bacteria.
6 Place the inner bowl in the holder of the Kamiac.
7 Then place the lid on the inner bowl. The lid is provided with an valve.
8 Now pour hot water in the space between the holder and the inner bowl
9 Close the Kamiac completely with the transparent lid.
10 Switch the Kamiac on.
11 The Kamiac will provide a constant temperature
12 Leave this mixture to activate for one day (24 hours).
13 Then pread the mix on to your filters, including the residue.
Attention.
Rinse the inner cup thoroughly with hot water.
Never place in the microwave!
Maintenance of pond and filters If after using the Kamiac no ammonium or nitrite is tested, it would be sufficient to add the Bacteria Feeding on a regular basis (weekly). However if you do test positive for ammonium and nitrite, repeat treatment.
Weekly Should you wish to keep your pond water in the best condition possible, as clear and blanket weed free as possible, using the Bacterial Feeding on a weekly basis is advisable.
Medication After using medication in your pond it is highly recommendable to support your filters with the bacteria from the Kamiac. The bacteria of the Kamiac are resistant against Potassium Permanganate, so should you treat with this substance, you can leave your filters on. Short-circuiting will not be necessary and there for optimal treatment is possible. Besides this the Kamiac Bacteria have the unique ability to clarify the water. This second quality means that you will not have to discolor the pond with hydrogen peroxide or Oxy-P. Just add 1 liter of Kamiac Mix to the filters, 12 hours after the last dose of Potassium Permanganate. Your pond will clarify as if you had discolored. Should your pond be over 40.000 liters, you will have to add a second liter of Kamiac Mix.
